หนังสือเกี่ยวกับการตรวจวัดระดับความสุข กำลังเป็นที่นิยมของนักอ่านทั่วโลก นัยว่าพลโลกของเรากำลังเผชิญหน้ากับความไม่สุข จึงอยากจะรู้ว่าที่ไหนบ้างที่อยู่แล้วมีความสุข ซึ่งทั้งหมดแล้วแต่ความเชื่อและความสามารถในการอดทน (Beliefs and Tolerance) ของแต่ละคน บ้านเราก็มีความพยายามจะวัดระดับความสุขออกมาเหมือนกัน ดูเหมือนว่าสำนักวิจัยของเอแบคจะรวบรวมเรื่องราวและสาระด้านนี้ไว้เยอะ พร้อมๆ กับสำรวจระดับความสุขของคนไทยในมิติต่างๆ มีหนังสือทางภูมิศาสตร์เล่นหนึ่ง Geography of Bliss ของ Eric Weiner (2007) เขียนเกี่ยวกับสถานที่แต่ละแห่งบนโลกนี้ที่ผู้คนอยู่แล้วมีความสุข มีผู้นำสาระในหนังสือเล่มนี้มากล่าวถึงอยู่หลายแห่ง อย่าง Pamela Paul เขียนลงในนิวยอร์กไทมส์เมื่อวันที่ 30 ธันวาคม 2007 ว่า "Why Is That Land Smiling?" หรืออย่างที่ Leif Pettersen เขียนไว้ว่า The concept is so elegantly simple: take what is arguably the top two human aspirations - happiness and travel - combine them, then flesh out a book proposal. Thailand: Happiness is Not Thinking ประโยคที่อีริคบรรจงเขียนบรรยายลักษณะความสุขของคนไทยไว้ในหนังสือ เป็นเรื่องน่าสนใจมาก คิดแบบไม่เข้าข้างตัวเอง ก็เห็นจะเป็นจริงตามนั้น คนไทยเราโดยรวมๆ แล้วไม่ใช่คนช่างคิด หลายเรื่องยากเกินไปสำหรับคนไทย สัปดาห์ก่อนคุยกับเพื่อนร่วมงานคนหนึ่ง เล่าให้เขาฟังว่า ประเทศฝรั่งเศสเขาบอกรูปร่างประเทศของเขาเป็น "เฮกซะโกนอล" เปรียบเทียบดูกับคนไทยบอกว่ารูปร่างประเทศของเราเป็น "ขวานทอง" หรือไม่ก็ "หัวช้าง" . . ไม่ใช่เรื่องแปลกสำหรับคนไทย เพราะเราเห็นทั้งขวานทั้งช้างประจำอยู่แล้ว แต่น่าแปลกว่า คนฝรั่งเศสเขาเคยเห็นเฮกซะโกนอลกันทุกคนรึเปล่า ทำไม่รูปร่างของประเทศเขาจึงเป็นเฮกซะโกนอล แล้วเฮกซะโกนอลเป็นอย่างไรในการรับรู้ของคนส่วนใหญ่ของประเทศเขา ไม่ได้ว่าความแตกต่างของรูปร่างประเทศทั้งสองที่มีระบบคิดต่างกันอย่างมาก แต่ก็ชวนให้คิดไม่ได้ว่า ทำไมจึงคิดกันอย่างนั้นไปได้ ทำไม วันก่อนพรรคพวกเดือดร้อนต้องระดมความช่วยเหลือกันพอประมาณ คำปลอบที่หลุดออกจากปากพวกเราเกือบทุกคน บอกว่า "อย่าคิดมาก" อย่างนี้กระมังที่อีริคจับจุดว่า "ความสุขของคนไทยคืออย่าคิดมาก" . . ได้รับจดห-ายน้อยส่งมาจากผู้ใหญ่ที่เคารพนับถือท่านหนึ่ง เขียนมาปลอบใจที่เราต้องสูญเสียคนที่เรารักมากไปอย่างไม่มีวันกลับ ท่านเริ่มเขียนว่า "ธรรมดาของชีวิต เป็นเช่นนี้แหละ" แล้วท่านก็เขียนอะไรที่ทำให้รู้สึกดีๆ หลายอย่าง และท่านก็ลงท้ายว่า "อย่าคิดมาก" สองสัปดาห์ก่อนไปคุยกับชาวบ้านเรื่องปุ๋ยราคาแพงขึ้นมาก ก็เลยชักชวนให้ใช้ปุ๋ยอินทรีย์ร่วมกับปุ๋ยเคมี แล้วปุ๋ยเคมีนี่ถ้าผสมเองต้นทุนจะลดลงอย่างมากเลย แต่ต้องใช้ความคิดสักหน่อยหนึ่ง ในเรื่องสูตรและส่วนผสม และเรื่องแหล่งหาซื้อแม่ปุ๋ย ชาวบ้านที่โน่นแถบอิสานเหนือโน่น เขาบอกว่า "ยุ่งยาก ไม่อยากคิด เสียเวลา ซื้อเอาง่ายกว่า" . . เป็นงั้นจริงๆ จากคุณ somlim เมื่อวันที่ 18/4/2551 15:57:04 x
